2 Dead In Clashes, Non-Tribal Stabbed In Shillong, Curfew Imposed, Internet Suspended

At least 2 people have been killed and several others injured since Friday after clashes between KSU members and non-tribals during a meeting on the CAA and inner line permit (ILP) in Meghalaya.
Clashes broke out between members of the Khasi Students Union and non-tribals in Ichamati area of Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district. The 2 deceased were identified as Rupchand Dewan and Lurshai Hynniewta.
10 other non-tribal people, including Dewan, were also stabbed at Bara Bazaar in Shillong through the day. Dewan, a migrant labourer from Assam, died on the way. All others were taken to the Civil Hospital in Shillong.
A vegetable vendor, identified as 29-year-old Rupchand Dewan, who hailed from Bhela Nawgaon in Assam’s Barpeta district, had succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Other injured persons have been identified as Akash Ali, Ajay Kuri, Rikesh Das, Satya Mudak, Deepak Kumar, Pradeep Kuri, Aman Kumar Shah, Jadur Choudhury and Shubham Nath.
