UN chief Antonio Guterres arrives in Pakistan on 4-day tour

UN chief Antonio Guterres arrived in Pakistan on Sunday on a four-day tour. During this time he will participate in the International Conference on Afghan Refugees and hold talks with the top leadership of Pakistan. He will also visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur. On arrival at the Noor Khan Airport, the Secretary-General of the United Nations was welcomed by Munir Akram, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations and senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and the United Nations in Pakistan.
According to the Foreign Ministry, Guterres will hold talks with President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi. The ministry said that during these meetings Pakistan will share its perspective on the Kashmir issue. His other programs also include interactions with MPs and youth. He will hold special talks on sustainable development, climate change and peacekeeping.
He will also visit Lahore. He will also visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur. He will address an international conference on the topic of “sheltering Afghan refugees for 40 years in Pakistan”. It is being organized by Pakistan and the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). Prime Minister Khan will inaugurate this two-day conference starting on Monday.
