25 terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir since January 20

In what is being termed as a major success for security forces in Kashmir, 25 militants have been killed in less than two months since the beginning of this year. While 21 terrorists have been killed in Kashmir, four were killed in Jammu. The list includes many commanders of terror groups. Meanwhile, in a late night encounter on Friday, two LeT terrorists were killed in Anantnag.

“Two LeT terrorists have been killed in an operation by army, CRPF and police at Sangam Bijbehara. Arms and ammunition have been recovered,” police said. J&K DGP Dilbagh Singh said, “In 2020, so far, one dozen operations have been carried out, and we have killed 25 terrorists. Nine terror operatives and 40 overground workers have been arrested. Close to 250 terrorists are active in Kashmir valley.”

In a separate incident, Baramulla police arrested an active Hizbul terrorist named Junaid Farooq Pandith of Hamray Pattan. Earlier this week, three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Diver village of Tral in Pulwama district of south Kashmir in the wee hours of February 19.
